THIS PRODUCT HAS BEEN UPDATED - check the update on the end of this blog post.

    ---

Our 1X90 Side carriers proved to be very useful, especially for carrying smaller roll bags or tool rolls under large rack-less systems like Mosko moto Reckless 80 or Giant Loop Siskiyou. When I got KTM 790 Adventure R I realized that something like that would be very useful on 790. Designing this was a challenge, since there is a lot less maneuver space on 790, compared to 1X90 bikes. We made 20-30 CAD models and dozen prototypes, before design was finalized. Here is a final prototype.

790 Luggage rails are mounted instead of stock rear side panels. Each side consists of the base, which is mounted to the bike and two add-on luggage brackets (L-shaped or flat, depending on the side), which can be bolted to the base. Add-on brackets can be mounted in several positions.

Base is mounted as close to the bike as possible, but there is still enough room to access the back of the base, so bolting add-on luggage brackets is easy. Also, no more than 2 minutes is needed to install or remove the base. Idea was to design a base that is very lightweight, close to the bike and that blends with the bike as much as possible. Functionality dictated aesthetics, but overall, it doesn't look bad. Left and right sides are mirrored.

Base alone can be used to mount Tool tube...

Or tool roll, like Mosko moto Fatty Tool roll. Or any other bag of similar size.

Mounted like this, these small bags or tool rolls or Tool tube, act as perfect support for the sides of large rack-less systems like Mosko moto Reckless 80 or Giant Loop Siskiyou. Heat shield is still needed, but bags are now barely touching the silencer).

On the RHS, there is not too much room for soft luggage, but L-shaped brackets are preventing the bags from sliding downwards and touching the silencer. Here is Kriega US-5 Drypack mounted.

Luckily, there is much more room one LHS. Here are flat add-on brackets, used on LHS.

And here are Kriega OS Adventure packs mounted.

    OS-6.

    OS-12.

    OS-18.

This was just a short preview of some possibilities enabled by 790 Luggage rails. We will manufacture the first batch in several weeks and we will publish product page soon. We will also make detailed blogs with examples of how to use Luggage rails in various options.

    UPDATE - DECEMBER 2020

After one year of using the Rails on my 790, I decided to abandon flat carriers for LHS. This worked well when everything is nicely strapped and tight. But without L-shaped flange to prevent bags from sliding down, straps are quickly loose. So, now we offer L-shaped brackets for LHS and RHS. This works fantastic for small roll bags (up to 5 liters) or tool rolls. But larger bags won't fit.
