Rear brake cylinder of KTM 690 Enduro is very exposed, considering this bike is all terrain vehicle.

    Or from different angle.

Some skid plates protect this part of the bike, but not all. In general, I am not big fan of large skid plates, I prefer slim, non bulky designs that don't stick out too much. Using smaller skid plate, there is a need for add on part that will protect rear brake cylinder.

There are few aftermarket protective parts, but I wasn't very pleased with any. I had two major remarks - small area was covered, leaving brake hoses exposed and/or loosing possibility to adjust brake lever position. So, I made my own solution.

I made it few months ago, install it and forgot about it. Recently, when I was changing an oil, I was surprised how many hit marks it had. So, I decided to slightly adjust design and to offer it for sale.

As shown on photo below, rear brake cylinder and brake hoses are protected. Protection is made of 4 mm thick aluminum.

Since this part of bike is really exposed, big hits are unavoidable. Protection part is made to soak or deflect those hits. All outer edges are deburred by machine, so hits can be deflected more easily. Off course, really big hits can bend it, but since it is made of aluminum, it will not brake and it will still serve its purpose.

It is very low profile, and sticks out only few millimeters. Yet, there is some space between protection part and brake cylinder, so hits wont be transferred to brake cylinder.

This part will be exposed to dirt, mud, water and hits, so high quality mounting hardware is used - 10.9 grade zinc coated bolts. Those wont be easily stripped.

Adjusting rear brake pedal position is essential for good control over bike. Protection part has a slot instead of single hole, so rear brake cylinder can be adjusted as there is no part added.

This add on is not needed if bike will be ridden on streets and roads. But for anyone going into more gnarly stuff, it is (relative) cheep protection that will not alter original design too much and wont compromise reliability of the bike.
